Harry Bergmann developed a plan for widespread upgrades to critical systems at American International Group’s (AIG) Houston campus that could save the organization approximately $3 million in net operating costs. Easy to implement savings can be achieved through control technologies on kitchen appliances, vending machines, printers and work stations with longer term savings coming from the possibility of implementing network-wide computer energy management software.

Bergmann also identified potential savings through lighting systems improvements including LED installations and indoor occupancy sensors. Capital investment projects could also produce significant savings for AIG through replacing a large chiller and installing window films throughout the campus, both of which bring the added benefit of increased occupant comfort. In total, Bergmann identified potential annual savings in excess of $600,000, approximately 7 million kilowatt hours and nearly 4,100 metric tons of carbon emissions for AIG’s Houston campus.
